Otter playing in the bay, Golden and Sea Eagles over the bay and porpoise and dolphins close to the bay - there’s the possibility to see it all here!

Jetty

Arduaine has its own jetty for you to launch your kayak (it’s an official stop on The Argyll Sea Kayak Trail) - or dive straight into the clear water for a swim! There is beach either side of the jetty, mostly stones with a small slither of sand. All just 5 minutes walk from the house.

Loch Melfort Hotel

The wonderful Loch Melfort Hotel is only a 10 minute walk away. Here you’ll find an excellent bistro for lunch (as well as a formal restaurant) with incredible views out to the west.

You can also say hello to the Heelin Coos named Dougal, Campbell and MacDonald - they are very friendly and love a wee chin rub!

Arduaine Gardens

The famous National Trust Arduaine Gardens are right next to the Loch Melfort Hotel.

Kilmartin ancient momuments

This area holds over 800 prehistoric and historical sites within a six-mile radius, including burial cairns, rock art, and standing stones. The museum is well worth a visit, as is the cafe!

Wildlife cruises

If you want to venture a little further, there are a number of excellent wildlife cruises running regularly from closeby which also take in the famous Gulf of Corryvreckan with the largest whirlpool in the world. 

Walking

There are lots of wonderful walks in the area - and we’re lucky enough to have one literally right on our doorstep! Views from the top of the hill right behind us are breathtaking and in our view the best on the west coast.

Further afield

Nearby Oban is a picturesque harbour town where you can get a ferry to the isles - Mull is an easy day trip. 

There are lots of castles to explore and the area also offers horse-riding, golf, sailing and diving.
